Christy P. Gray is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (B.S., Political Science and International Relations) and University of San Diego School of Law (J.D.). Ms. Gray began her college career at Boston University as part of the University Professors Program. She was raised in Honolulu and graduated from Punahou School.
Ms. Gray launched her legal career in California in 2001 where she worked as a Deputy District Attorney (DDA) in Orange County, California for 9 years. As a DDA, Ms. Gray conducted numerous criminal trials and hearings and appeared nearly every day in court prosecuting crimes and assisting victims of crime. Ms. Gray returned home to Honolulu in 2010 to raise her children and continue her practice of law. In December 2011, she began her legal career in Hawaii and served for 8 months as law clerk to then Honorable Michael D. Wilson, 1st Circuit Court, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Prior to joining the Law Office of Sara Jo Buehler, Ms. Gray worked with a prominent civil litigation firm and two employment law firms in Honolulu, where her practice focused on employment law matters and general civil litigation. She gained experience with all aspects of civil litigation, including civil trials, settlement conferences, mediation, arbitration, discovery disputes and motions practice.
In June 2017, Ms. Gray joined Ms. Buehler and now centers her practice on all aspects of family law.
Ms. Gray believes in treating clients with respect and understanding. She takes the time to make sure clients understand the legal process and current state of the law so they understand potential and past court rulings and can make educated decisions throughout the process in their own case. She believes that there is no one approach to a case and each approach and case analysis is driven by the unique set of facts for each case, each client's goals and desired outcomes and the current state of the law.
Ms. Gray is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of both California (inactive) and Hawaii. Ms. Gray joined the California State Bar Association in 2001 and she became a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association in 2012. She is a member of the HSBA, the Family Law Section and Child Law Section.
In her free time, Ms. Gray enjoys the ocean, photography, travel when possible and corralling her triplet boys.
